Georgia Bulldogs 2025 Season Preview
Georgia’s still stacked, but not untouchable. With Carson Beck gone, Gunner Stockton just needs to steady the ship because the real key is pressure. When the Dawgs generate a pass rush, they dominate. When they don’t? They lose.
Still the Standard — But Not Invincible
🧠 Key to the Season:
Pressure, Pressure, Pressure
Georgia’s pass rush has never been elite by the numbers, but when they bring heat, they win.
In 2024:
- 37 total sacks
- 13 sacks across two wins vs. Texas
- 5 sacks vs. Tennessee
- Just 1 or fewer sacks in all 3 losses (Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Bama)
The defense is elite front-to-back. But if the Dawgs want another ring, the front seven has to disrupt…not just contain.
💪 Key Player:
Gunner Stockton, QB (Junior)
No one’s asking him to be a Heisman finalist.
They’re asking him to be Stetson with an arm.
Stockton replaces Carson Beck and brings mobility, solid experience, and just enough upside to stretch the field. If he’s steady, this team has no excuse not to win 10+ again.
🔁 Top Transfer In:
Zachariah Branch, WR (Junior)
One of the most electric return men in the country, Branch brings speed and flash. The question is: can he be more than window dressing?
He had just 3 career TD catches at USC. Georgia is banking on him turning gadget plays into game-breakers.
📤 Biggest Transfer Loss:
Carson Beck, QB (Senior)
Say what you want: he threw for 7,000+ yards and 52 touchdowns the last two years. Yes, the picks were a problem. But he kept Georgia in every CFP convo.
Now at Miami, Beck leaves behind a massive legacy and just enough questions.
📆 Key Game:
@ Tennessee – September 13
It’s the SEC opener. It’s a true road test. And it’s the only game Georgia plays outside the state of Georgia before November.
Win this? They get Alabama, Texas, and Ole Miss all in Athens. That’s a dream slate if you want to reach Atlanta again.
Lose it? The pressure ratchets up fast.
🔟 Top 10 Dawgs to Watch:
- Christian Miller, DT – Monster on the interior.
- CJ Allen, LB – Emerging star with speed.
- Daylen Everett, CB – Lockdown corner.
- Zachariah Branch, WR – X-factor in space.
- Elo Modozie, LB – Consistent, versatile.
- Jordan Hall, DT – Strong as hell.
- Monroe Freeling, OT – Has to anchor the line.
- Earnest Greene III, OT – Veteran tone-setter.
- Gunner Stockton, QB – Needs to be calm in the chaos.
- Oscar Delp, TE – Quiet killer in the middle of the field.
📊 Fun Stats from 2024:
- Red Zone TD %: 70% (solid, but not elite)
- 1st Quarter Scoring: Opponents outscored UGA 63–55
- Fumbles: 24 total (7 lost) — clean, but not perfect
The Dawgs were great — but not surgical.
🧨 Unc’s Outlook
Georgia’s still Georgia. But they’re no longer perfect.
The pass rush comes and goes. The offense won’t be as clean without Beck. And this is the most SEC-loaded schedule they’ve had in a while.
Here’s the good news:
- Alabama, Texas, and Ole Miss all come to Athens.
- No LSU. No Mizzou. No Oklahoma.
- No South Carolina. No Texas A&M.
- They get two warmups (Marshall, Austin Peay) before things get real.
They’ll drop one — maybe Bama, maybe Texas — and there’s probably a second landmine (Florida, Tech, Tennessee). But the Playoff is still the floor for this group.
🎯 The Call:
Win Total Projection: 10.0
Predicted Record: 10–2
Still elite. Just needs more bite off the edge.
🟢 Game Buckets:
Likely Wins:
- Marshall
- Austin Peay
- Charlotte
- at Mississippi State
Toss-Ups (50/50):
- @ Tennessee
- Alabama
- Texas
- Ole Miss
- at Auburn
- Florida (neutral)
- Georgia Tech
- Kentucky
Likely Losses:
- None. But they can’t afford to start slow like last year.
