Broadway Unc on Julian Sayin: The Buckeyes Named Their Guy

Published

on

Ohio State finally pulled the trigger and named Julian Sayin the starting quarterback. No surprise here, but let’s cut through the smoke. You put on that Buckeye helmet, and you’re instantly stepping into the hardest QB job in the country. Forget the hype, forget the stars, the second you jog out there in scarlet and gray, the fanbase expects 350 yards, four touchdowns, and a win over Michigan before Halloween.

This ain’t some cute underdog story. Ohio State fans aren’t patient. They didn’t give CJ Stroud a grace period. The man threw four touchdowns against Minnesota in his first start and people were calling for Quinn Ewers before halftime. That’s the gig. Sayin could go 19-for-22 with three scores, and you’d still have some guy in Columbus screaming on sports radio about “not enough juice on the deep ball.”

Now, the roster around him is filthy. Best wideouts in the country, a solid line, plenty of talent in the backfield. It’s almost impossible to mess it up. All he’s gotta do is stand tall and get the ball to Maserati Marv 2.0 and friends. But if he blinks, if he throws a pick against Texas, if he stumbles in November against Michigan, they will eat him alive. That’s not pressure, that’s a career death trap dressed as opportunity.

Sayin’s got the tools. Good arm, quick release, steady enough head. But none of that matters until he walks into the Big House with everything on the line. At Ohio State, you don’t get remembered for beating Purdue in October. You get remembered for what happens in late November.

Unc’s Final Word

They can call him QB1, they can pump him up all they want. Around here, it don’t mean a damn thing until he proves he can take Michigan’s soul. Until then, he’s just another kid in a Buckeye jersey, sayin he’s ready.
