Alabama Crimson Tide 2025 Season Preview
Alabama’s got the roster to win it all again. But with questions at quarterback and a brutal schedule loaded with landmines, the Tide need to rediscover their edge in the trenches. If they stop the run and someone steps up under center, they’re back in the Playoff.
The Standard’s Still the Standard — Now Go Prove It
🧠 Key to the Season:
Stop the Run Like It’s 2016 Again
Alabama used to choke out run games. Those days are gone, but they need to come back in a hurry.
Last season:
- Gave up 137.8 rush yards per game
- Allowed 150+ rushing yards in five games
- Lost to Oklahoma and Tennessee … their worst run D showings
The formula’s simple:
- Held teams under 150 rushing yards? 7–0
- Didn’t? Trouble.
This front seven doesn’t need to be historic — it just needs to be nasty enough to make opponents uncomfortable again.
💪 Key Player:
Ty Simpson, QB (Junior)
Or maybe it’s Austin Mack. Or maybe it’s 5-star phenom Keelon Russell. Doesn’t matter who — somebody’s gotta be that dude.
Alabama has had the greatest 10-year QB run in college football history: Hurts, Tua, Mac, Bryce, Milroe. Whoever wins this job is expected to keep that legacy alive and lead this team through the most brutal schedule in the country.
No pressure, Ty.
🔁 Top Transfer In:
Isaiah Horton, WR (Senior)
Not a headline-stealer, but a matchup problem at 6’4”, 209.
He caught 56 balls for 616 yards and 5 TDs at Miami last year and brings much-needed experience to a retooling WR room. More reliable than explosive — for now.
📤 Biggest Transfer Loss:
Elijah Pritchett, OT (Junior)
Big body. Big loss.
At 6’6”, 327 lbs, Pritchett could’ve helped solidify what’s already an elite O-line. Instead, he’s now at Nebraska, and Bama will lean on its depth to keep the pocket clean.
📆 Key Game:
@ Georgia – September 27
Nothing else needs to be said. It’s Bama–Georgia, it’s in Athens, and it could decide the top seed in the new-look SEC.
If Alabama wins this? The rest of the path opens up — even with landmines ahead.
🔟 Top 10 Tide to Know:
- Kaydyn Proctor, OT – Dominant left tackle.
- Deontae Lawson, LB – Heart of the defense.
- Ryan Williams, WR – Sophomore superstar.
- Tim Keenan, DT – Needs to eat up blocks.
- LT Overton, DE – Veteran edge anchor.
- Keon Sabb, S – Brings physicality.
- Germie Bernard, WR – Transfer with juice.
- Domani Jackson, CB – Needs to lock down WR1s.
- Parker Brailsford, C – Underrated stabilizer.
- Jaeden Roberts, OG – Road-grader.
📊 Fun Stats from 2024:
- 1st Quarter Scoring: 111–38 — fast starts
- Rushing TDs: 41 (Bama) vs. 10 (Opponents)
- Field Goal Accuracy: 80% — finally reliable
This team was physical early and finished drives — classic Bama DNA.
🧨 Unc’s Outlook
New coach. Same expectations.
Kalen DeBoer walked into the most demanding job in the country, and his first year? 10+ wins and Playoff contention. But the leash gets shorter in Year 2.
Here’s what the Tide are staring at:
- @ Florida State to open
- Wisconsin at home mid-September
- @ Georgia at the end of the month
- Then?
LSU, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Missouri, Auburn, South Carolina.
The good news?
- No Texas
- No Texas A&M
- No Florida
- No Ole Miss
- No Arkansas
- No Kentucky
But still — this is a 5.5-win schedule for most programs. Alabama? It better be double-digit wins or bust.
🎯 The Call:
Win Total Projection: 9.5
Predicted Record: 10–2
Best roster in America? Maybe. Most pressure? Absolutely.
